As always, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago’s policies and protocols for responding to the COVID-19 pandemic are rooted in safety and care for our neighbors. Following our call to be and prepare visionary leaders, our goal is to draw from faith and facts rather than fear. LSTC looks to scientific evidence to guide this process and works to protect the vulnerable populations within our communities.
The LSTC Viral Outbreak Response Team released the following information on August 17, 2020 to all LSTC faculty, auxiliary/affiliate faculty, staff and students regarding the Fall 2020 semester.
The LSTC main building will be opened with limited capacity during the fall semester 2020 for focused purposes only starting September 8. These purposes include work of employees, select classes, chapel services, JKM Library pick-up, mail and dining operations, and pre-arranged study spaces.
As decided by the LSTC faculty last spring, all courses in the fall semester 2020 will be offered remotely. Several fall courses also provide optional in-person components. Please monitor the LSTC website for more information.
The JKM Library will continue to meet the information needs of LSTC students and faculty by offering services electronically, including research assistance, robust e-resources, retrieval requests of hard-copy materials from I-Share, document scanning of books, periodicals, and other materials within copyright limits, and pick-up service in the front lobby of the LSTC main building. In order to protect the health of JKM Library users, the physical space will be accessible only to staff members during the fall semester.
The Language Resource and Writing Center (LRWC) will also provide services virtually, with no use of the space in the third-floor east wing for events, gatherings, and other programming.
There will be limited study spaces available to students, including closed carrels, day study spaces, and small group study rooms. More details will be provided in the near future.
