As members of a community that is boldly working towards becoming an Antiracist institution
We denounce, repudiate, and condemn white supremacy, racism, xenophobia, and sexism that undergird the vicious senseless murders, and domestic terrorist attacks against Asians and Asian Americans.
We grieve, mourn and rage together in community with our siblings, friends, colleagues, families, and the rest of the members of our community who are Asians and Asian Americans.
We see you! We are with you! We love you!
We listen, stand in solidarity, and offer our support to the members of our community who, as a result of the latest attacks against Asians and Asian Americans in Atlanta and California are experiencing fear, insecurity, frustration, and anger.
We gather our voices to the millions demanding that action be taken, that justice be done, and that these attacks and the demagoguery which promotes them will stop!
We commit to continue working together in the dismantling of the structures and ideologies that support racism, xenophobia, and sexism and towards the transformation of systems and institutions to be antiracist, as the way that will promote equity and the authentic inclusion of people from historically marginalized groups, particularly those encompassing intersectionality.
As we pray, we lament.
How long, O Lord?
As we lament, we continue encouraging each other by acknowledging that we are all in this together because we are all being oppressed, excluded, abused, attacked, and impacted by the same systemic evils of white supremacy, sexism, and xenophobia.
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer!
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” April 16, 1963.
