Worship During COVID-19
Chapel services are offered through the academic school year, with a break during summer months. Review previous sermons from the spring on our YouTube page.
Sharing Faith, Building Community
As a community of leaders preparing to shape and grow communities of their own, daily worship is foundational to LSTC’s culture and identity. First and foremost, our worship offers thanks and praise to God for the liberating good news of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Gathered around the means of grace, God’s gifts of Word and Sacrament, our lives are reoriented toward God’s purposes for all of creation.
LSTC’s emphasis on public church is modeled in the process by which students, staff and faculty are all engaged in the work of planning daily worship services. This process is led by the chapel staff, a team of student workers utilizing the arts of community organizing as they draw connections between the experiences of members of the LSTC community and current events shaping the life of the city, nation, and world.
Worship takes place daily in Augustana Chapel, Monday through Thursday, at 11:15am. Morning and evening prayer services are held in Roby Chapel as well. Our weekly schedule of worship is guided by the following pattern:
Mondays — Service of the Word. A service at which senior students often preach.
Tuesdays — Service of Prayer. Incorporating a variety of liturgical forms and cultural influences.
Wednesdays — Service of Holy Communion. A service at which faculty and other guests often preach.
Thursdays — Service of Testimony. A service in which members of the LSTC community offer witness to their faith, sharing true stories from their own lives.
