"I’m excited to attend LSTC for both the community and the opportunity to be in the dual degree program. The community itself has been welcoming and intentional from the start and I appreciate the emphasis on public church. I have a dual call to both ministry and equine therapy so this allows me to have one foot in social work and other in religious leadership."
In cooperation with the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration, LSTC offers a coordinated program of studies. Students earn the MDiv, MA, or MAM degree from LSTC and the AM degree from the University of Chicago (the equivalent to a master of social work degree).
Each school accepts credit for as many as five courses taken by students at the other school as well as jointly-approved clinical pastoral education and second-year field placements. These provisions make it possible for students to complete the MDiv and AM in five years rather than the six that would normally be required. Students combining the MAM or MA and AM degree may complete the two degrees in three years instead of four years. Students have the opportunity to interrelate the two fields during the entire period of study.
LSTC is a member of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools consortium (ACTS), making hundreds of classes available to students at 11 denominational seminaries in the Chicago area, three within walking distance of LSTC.
