Van Scharrel Elected LSTC Vice President for Advancement September 15, 2004

Mark van Scharrel was elected Vice President of Advancement by the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago Board of Directors in mid-August and began his duties immediately.

Van Scharrel has served LSTC as Assistant and then Associate Vice President for Advancement since 1999. During that time, Van Scharrel has been instrumental in increasing overall giving to LSTC as well as attracting support for the seminary's Campaign for Worship and Spiritual Formation.

"Mark's knowledge of the seminary and its constituencies is a tremendous asset as LSTC moves toward launching a comprehensive campaign," said President James Kenneth Echols. "His experience with fund raising, his years in parish ministry and knowledge of congregations will serve LSTC well in the years ahead."
