Westhelle's <em>The Scandalous God: The Use and Abuse of the Cross</em> to be offered as SELECT course January 9, 2007

Vitor Westhelle's recently published The Scandalous God: The Use and Abuse of the Cross along with video taped lectures presented at Trinity Lutheran Seminary's Winter Ministry Institute will form a SELECT course to be released later this year. Westhelle will be the keynote speaker for Trinity's "The Theology of the Cross in Contemporary Culture" Winter Institute January 17-18. A study guide for the book and lectures will be included in the SELECT course package, which is co-sponsored by the SELECT Multimedia Resources and the Covenant Cluster of ELCA seminaries.

Westhelle joined LSTC's faculty in 1993 after teaching at Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary and Escola Superior de Teologia, Brazil. He was visiting professor at the University of Natal, South Africa, and the University of Aarhus, Denmark. He is a prolific writer and speaker with an international reputation. His published pieces include eight books which he wrote or co-edited and more than 100 articles.
