Alice Rothchild to share experiences of trauma and resilience in Israel and the West Bank February 26, 2009

Physician and co-founder of the Health and Human Rights Project, Dr. Alice Rothchild, will present "Broken Promises, Broken Dreams" on Monday, March 23 beginning at noon in the McCormick Theological Seminary Common Room, 5460 S. University, Chicago.

The free presentation, based on Dr. Rothchild's book of the same name, is sponsored by A Center of Christian-Muslim Engagement for Peace and Justice at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and by the Language Resource and Writing Center of LSTC and McCormick Seminary.

Dr. Rothchild has worked with Physicians for Human Rights - Israel and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society to provide medical services in Israel and the West Bank. She has shared her experiences with Lutheran church leaders prior to their historic 2009 tour of Israel and the West Bank and has been featured on the Chicago Public Radio program "Worldview." She brings her perspective as an American Jew to the traumas and tensions present in the West Bank and Israel.

A Center of Christian-Muslim Engagement for Peace and Justice at LSTC, inaugurated in September 2006, provides cultural and educational opportunities in which Christians, Muslims and people of other faiths come together for mutual enrichment, understanding, healing and wholeness. It is the outgrowth of LSTC building relationships with the Muslim community in Chicago for over two decades.
