Student Profile: Christine Webb

Degree: M.Div.

Christine Webb, began her journey to seminary walking a labyrinth at a Lutheran Student Movement conference. When she reached the center of the labyrinth, she waited for God to answer her prayer, “What am I to do with my life?” All she heard was the rustle of pant legs as others walked the ancient path.

“I was filled with frustration. But then a phrase floated into my head, crystal clear: ‘Listen to my people as they walk. Listen to my people as they journey through life.’ An overwhelming sense of calm engulfed me. I rose from my place and began the journey out of the labyrinth, amazingly having heard God’s voice in the rustle of pant legs calling me to listen.

“I was called to LSTC for a variety of reasons that make so much sense when you know this part of my story. The Growth in Faith program offers experiences and prayer methods similar to that of the labyrinth by which I began this journey. This program has enabled me to continue to develop a strong prayer life.

Through the ACTS Consortium I am able to take courses such as Islamic Mysticism and Spirituality, which I took from the Catholic Theological Union during my first semester. Coupled with strong classes at LSTC like pastoral care with its emphasis on deep listening and story, I grow more and more each day into the gifts of ministry and ability to continue to follow God’s call to listen.”
