Sessions & Workshops

Plenary Session 1:

The Narrative Approach examines the how and why of narrative and the importance of storytelling. Narrative uses the Bible as “a living Word” and treats Bible stories as mirrors that invite the modern reader or listener to participate, to discover what God is doing today, and to begin telling his or her own story.

Plenary Session 2:

The Implementation Phase examines the “how” to implementing this stewardship resource. We will hear how storytelling and fundamental stewardship themes are used to offer a unique approach to stewardship education, community building, and an annual financial response.

Workshop 1:

Using the Narrative Approach
We are challenged to be the bearers of the gospel story and the sharers of God’s gifts to all. This workshop provides you with an outline of one approach to the narrative method and helps you begin to develop your own personal storytelling by using one of the program resources.

Workshop 2:

Implementing the Program
There are a variety of approaches for congregations to use specific elements within the resource. The setting and stewardship ministry experience of your congregation or parish will determine which workshop setting is best for you to attend.

1. Congregation with no history of financial response
2. Congregation with regular annual response
3. Congregation with strong stewardship ministry
4. Congregation of African descent
