TRINITY'S CAMPAIGN TO ADOPT-A-ROBE

For the past eight years, the seminary's Gospel Choir and one of its founding members, Carole A. Burns (M.Div., 1992), developed a special relationship with Trinity Lutheran Church, West Bend, Wis. Annually, the congregation invited the choir to perform and last fall, Carole performed a one-woman concert for the parishioners. After her sudden death in December, the congregation wanted to honor the life and gifts of Carole. As a visible memorial of the years they were the recipients of her talents, they decided to purchase robes for the choir.

The "Adopt-a-Robe" campaign resulted in 45 new bright red robes, Carole's favorite color. When the choir arrived at Trinity in April for its annual concert, the robes were awaiting the singers and were worn for the first time that day. Volunteering the materials, their time and talents, the stoles were created and made by Kris Hinterberg and the people who work for her at Kris Hinterberg, Inc.

Trinity's pastor, Terry Berg (M.Div., 1972), first invited the choir to perform at the church when his son, John (M.Div., 1998), was a first-year student at the seminary and a member of the Gospel Choir. Berg's younger son, David, carried on the family tradition and will graduate with a master of divinity degree in June. Like his brother, he was a member of the Gospel Choir.
