Frequently Asked Questions
All You Ever Wanted to Know About Visiting LSTC
(but were afraid to ask!)
- How should I get to LSTC?
By Air:
If you fly to Chicago to visit LSTC, we strongly suggest flying into Midway Airport if at all possible. Midway Airport is much closer to campus and it’s much easier getting to and from campus from there.
If your flight plans lead you to O’Hare airport, we will be glad to help you with directions (and possibly transportation) to LSTC.
By Train:
It is possible to travel to Chicago via Amtrak. The train comes into Chicago’s Union Station.
Once You’re In Chicago
When we know your travel plans, the Visit Coordinator will try to arrange round trip transportation for you between the airport or train station to campus. If transportation to campus is not available, the Visit Coordinator will help you plan the best way to get to campus by public transportation.
Financial Assistance for Travel
For those who need assistance with travel expenses, the Admissions Office has a small fund to defray costs.
By Car:
If you drive to campus, the Visit Coordinator will help you plan the best route possible. Parking on campus can be difficult at times. We suggest that you park in the McCormick Visitor’s lot (located right off University at 54th Place) when you arrive on campus. After parking in a spot designated for visitors, please go into the McCormick building and inform the receptionist that you are visiting LSTC. If you plan to stay more than one day, you will need to move your car to the street during the late afternoon/early evening hours.

- Where am I going to stay?
If you visit LSTC for multiple days, we will provide housing for you free of charge. You will stay in our Conference Center or in one of our Guest Apartments. Bedding, towels, etc. will be provided for you.
Special Needs
If you have any special housing needs (i.e. wheelchair accessibility), please let the Visit Coordinator know in advance and plans will be made accordingly.

How expensive will it be to visit?
The visit should be fairly inexpensive for you. LSTC will provide meals for you during your visit. You will be responsible for transportation costs, meals not associated with your visit, alcohol, and anything that you might like to do on your own (such as visiting a museum or going downtown to shop).
