What is it like to be a student at LSTC? AcademicThe Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago is highly academic and a place of grace. Whether you are looking for the most rigorous study of theology or simply want to prepare yourself in the best possible way for ministry or any place in between, there's a place for you. Our classes are challenging and there are multiple ways to engage in learning. CommunityWe are LSTC—students from over 30+ synods of the ELCA every year, from various denominations and religious traditions, from places throughout the world. We are LSTC—a diverse faculty that includes experts in the fields of Bible, history, ministry, theology, ethics and more. We are LSTC—a staff committed to the school and neighborhood, many of whom live in close proximity to the seminary. We build community together in a variety of ways and through all our beautiful diversity, God continues to make us one body. CommutingWe have a number of students who take courses at LSTC as part-time and/or commuter students. Those students often focus studies in one-two days per week, allowing them to continue to work throughout the rest of the week. We offer a number of resources to make studies as a commuter student possible. HousingOur vintage apartments are located just across the street from the seminary. For a tour of housing when you plan to visit, please contact visitcoordinator@lstc.edu. Hyde ParkLSTC is located in a beautiful neighborhood. Hyde Park has a wide variety of restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores and small shops. The neighborhood is home to the University of Chicago and five seminaries, including LSTC. It is one of the most racially and economically diverse neighborhoods in the city of Chicago, and home to President Barack Obama. |
