LSTC features strong emphases in the following areas: Urban Ministry, Religion and Science, Biblical Studies, Environmental Ministry and Interfaith.

LSTC, a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, prepares pastors, theological educators, lay professional leaders, diaconal ministers, and other church leaders who are centered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and committed to the Christian faith.
LSTC promotes theological research and publication and preserves, explores, and interprets the Lutheran Heritage as a confessing movement calling the whole church to renewal.
