Women’s Day 2007 celebrates ministry of women in the Church

Chicago --- On Saturday, September 29, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago Women’s Guild and the Women of the ELCA will present “From Scarcity to Abundance,” a day of workshops, lectures and worship to celebrate the valuable, vital ministry of women in the life of the church. LSTC’s faculty, staff, and alumni will lead the event, held on the campus at 1100 East 55th Street in Chicago, from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Registration is $35 per person, due by September 21.

Dr. Esther Menn, professor of Old Testament at LSTC, will deliver the keynote address on the Book of Ruth. Workshop leaders include the Rev. Dr. Monica Coleman, assistant professor of systematic theology; the Rev. Joy McDonald Coltvet, director for vocation and recruitment; the Rev. Lydia Kalb, director of the LSTC Multicultural Center; the Rev. Dr. Gwen Miller, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Chicago; and the Rev. Linda Johnson-Seyenkulo, dean of community. Guest preacher for the day’s worship is the Rev. Meghan Johnston Aelabouni, pastor of youth and family ministry at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, Elk Grove Village, Ill.
