Doctor of Ministry programs
at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago
The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree, designed for leaders who have served for at least three years in active ministry, is oriented toward excellence in the practice of ministry. Peer learning is an essential component.
LSTC participates in two D.Min. programs. One revolves around intensive summer session courses. After summer session, students disperse to work on projects at home throughout the rest of the year. Lay leaders in their ministry settings play an integral part in the projects, enhancing their own skills as well. During the third academic year, students write thesis projects which are eventually bound and catalogued in the JKM Library.
The ACTS D.Min. in Preaching involves seven seminaries of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools in ecumenical collaboration. Its dean is Dr. Craig Satterlee, of LSTC. It is international in scope, each year bringing students from Sweden to Chicago for their final summer residency and thesis project preparation. For more information, please contact the program at (773) 947-6270 or see the website at: actspreaching@mccormick.edu
The Ecumenical D.Min., co-sponsored by LSTC, Catholic Theological Union, and McCormick Theological Seminary, centers around the academic year. Students from around the world come to live on campus and complete the degree in two years. Others may attend part-time for a longer period. The director is Dr. Edward Foley, of CTU. The three concentrations are Liturgy, Spirituality, and Cross-cultural studies. A concentration in Christian Witness is anticipated.
