Worship and Music

Worship is central to life at LSTC. In and through worship, we individually and corporately encounter, experience, and celebrate the God to whom the rest of our intellectual, contextual, spiritual, communal, and ministerial activity is directed.

Augustana Chapel

The seminary community worships Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. The normal rhythm of worship is a Service of the Word with faculty preaching on Monday, Morning Prayer on Tuesday, The Holy Eucharist on Wednesday, and a more innovative worship service with student preaching on Thursday. In consultation with the dean of the chapel and the Standing Committee on Worship, students have provided additional worship opportunities, such as morning and evening prayer and an evening Eucharist for commuters.

Augustana Chapel is the home of The Ruth and Paul Manz Organ. Dedicated November 4, 2004, it is the only Bigelow organ in the Chicago area.

Roby Prayer Chapel

LSTC's Roby Chapel, located on the second floor off the Grand Hallway, provides space for individual prayer and meditation and small group worship.

The cantor works with the LSTC Cantorei choir and the director of the Gospel Choir along with the dean of the chapel to provide music for seminary services. The seminary also has a chapel music series.
