Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago

LSTC >> Seminary Life >> Community Life >> Commuting

Commuters usually want to take as many courses as possible in the three hour block format - traveling to campus on Sunday evening or Monday and staying through Tuesday or Wednesday.

In order to serve commuter students, we have an apartment designated for them. For a modest fee that covers the entire semester, students can stay in the commuter apartment for 1-2 nights each week making it easier to take classes 2-3 days per week. This is a furnished apartment with communal gathering spaces and each student has access to shared or private rooms, depending on the number of students staying in a given night.

Commuter Apartment

The Commuter apartment is made available as a form of hospitality. The Commuter apartment can house up to ten students per night and is Co-Ed. Bring your own linens, toiletries, food and a willingness to tidy up after yourself. Wi-Fi is included in the apartment at no additional cost!

Housing Rates - Fall and Spring Terms

One night a week per semester: $300
Two nights a week per semester: $450

Housing Rates - J Term, Maymester, Summer Session, and Single Nights

$30 per night

Arranging for Housing

If you are interested in reserving your place in the commuter apartment, we ask that you fill out the Commuter Housing application form [PDF] indicating the night(s) you would be staying and send payment with the form.

Please return the form to the Housing Office, Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, 1100 East 55th Street, Chicago, IL 60615. You will receive your key at the LSTC front desk when you arrive. Charges for your stay will be billed to your student account at the beginning of the semester.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Housing Office at or 773-256-0771.
