LSTC Green Zone:
Public Ministry and Political Advocacy

LSTC takes seriously its responsibility to the wider church and to society through publications, workshops and conferences, website offerings, and liaisons with environmental agencies in Chicago.

LSTC Publications

--“Care of the Earth: A Manual for Church Leaders” edited by Tina Krause. This resource gives suggestions for parish leaders on how to incorporate care for creation into parish life. Read it here!
--“Creation and the Future of Humanity: LSTC Writings on the Environment.” A collection of sermons, papers, lectures, and published articles by LSTC faculty and others who have lectured or preached on the environment.

LSTC conferences on eco-justice and care for creation.

-- “Care of the Earth” Professional Leadership Conference.
-- “Making Your Church a Creation-Awareness Center”A National Council of Churches’ conference for parishes and seminarians in the Chicagoland area.
--“Sustainable Maintenance Practices for Building Managers” was a two day conference for seminaries co-sponsored by LSTC and the ELCA Office of Environmental Justice.

Web of Creation -- The Web of Creation, an interfaith website for congregations, was established to foster the movement for personal and social transformation to a just and sustainable world from religious perspectives. To that end, the information at this site will:

-- connect you with ideas, resources and strategies for doing eco-justice
-- inform, inspire, encourage, educate you about eco-justice
-- support you in your efforts to live, work and pray in ways that promote eco-justice
-- Green Congregation Program: Resources to transform congregations into green zones through worship, education, buildings and grounds, home and work, and public ministry and advocacy. Learn more!
