Events: 2010 Commencement

At LSTC’s 150th Commencement, celebrated on May 16:

  • one graduate made Lutheran history by being the first African American Lutheran woman to earn the doctor of philosophy degree in New Testament studies. [Read more about Cheryl Stewart Pero]
  • Eighty two students in LSTC’s five degree programs, graduated. [See the photo gallery.]
  • LSTC also concluded its celebration of Earth Year by presenting the Confessor of Christ Award to the Rev. Dr. H. Paul Santmire and the Community of the Cross Award to Holden Village Retreat Center. [Read more about the awards]
  • Four prizes were awarded to students for excellence in scholarship and preaching. [Read more about the prizes.]
  • LSTC honored members of the class of 1960 who celebrated their 50th reunion that weekend.
