*Dr. Bevans is a priest of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) and currently holds the Louis J. Luzbetak Chair, SVD Professor of Mission and Culture at Catholic Theological Union (CTU), Chicago. Ordained in 1971, Dr. Bevans is a graduate of the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome (STL) and the University of Notre Dame (PhD). He co-edited the Orbis Books' series New Directions in Mission and Evangelization with James A. Scherer; authored Models of Contextual Theology (2002); and co-authored with Roger Schroeder, Mission for the 21st Century (2001) and Constants in Context: A Theology of Mission for Today (2004). In the fall 2008, Paulist Press will publish Evangelization and Freedom, written with Jeffrey Gros as a commentary on Vatican II’s documents on Mission and Religious Freedom. Professor Bevans is a former Director of CCGM, and currently a member of the international committee on Edinburgh 2010 that is preparing for the centenary celebration of the World Missionary Conference at Edinburgh in 1910. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Catholic Theological Society of America.
