The Chicago premiere of a traveling exhibit from the Luther Centre in Wittenberg, Germany, and the State Center of Political Education Saxony-Anhalt. The exhibit is open during regular campus hours. Call 773-256-0700 for times. A docent is available for group tours. Call Robert Saler at 773-909-4984 for details.

Collage of photos from exhibit.

Luther’s writings on the Jews helped fuel the tension between Jews and Christians during the Holocaust. A powerful exhibit of photos and artifacts from Jewish life in the German city of Wittenberg during the 1930s and 40s hopes to foster communication and healing.

“This deliberate joint reminder of the guilt and shame [in Wittenberg] and the unspeakable suffering [by Jews] can also lead Christians and Jews to the hope of a joint future so that they can stand together and combat racism, political or religious mania, and violence.” -- State Center of Political Education of Saxony-Anhalt and the Luther Centre – Wittenberg
