Letter from Our Co-Chairs

The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago is committed to equipping women and men for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. As this commitment is pursued, it is guided by a vision for excellence that builds upon the past and envisions the future—a future to which we believe God is calling us.

In the early 1960s, when the newly-formed Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago was located on the city’s south side, it equipped its graduates to engage the emerging challenges and opportunities in ministry at that time.
Now, at the start of the 21st century, our communities are increasingly diverse, not only ethnically, but also religiously.

Poverty and wealth are increasingly juxtaposed. We are in a global community where things that happen around the world are immediately accessible to us.

Today, through its urban location and resources, its ecumenical ties and interfaith relationships, and the wealth of perspectives and experiences available in this international community of learners, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago is in a unique position for equipping the saints for ministry. LSTC is preparing educated leaders for the church who are attuned to the ideas and issues as well as the challenges and changes of the 21st century—leaders who are ready to serve God’s people.

Your gifts, your prayers, your testimony are vital to Equipping the Saints for Ministry.
