LSTC launches $56 million comprehensive campaign |
||
On May 21, under the glittering Tiffany mosaic dome of Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago launched the public phase of its five-year, $56 million comprehensive campaign, “Equipping the Saints for Ministry.” It is the most ambitious fundraising effort the seminary has ever undertaken.
Bishop Philip and Mrs. Diane Hougen and Mr. Larry and Mrs. Christie Tietjen are serving as Co-chairs of the campaign. The Campaign Steering Committee and Honorary Committee are made up of alumni and friends of the seminary. |

The public phase of the Campaign will run from 2007 – 2009. Its theme is from Ephesians 4:11-12, “The gifts God gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.”
As it fulfills its mission to equip women and men for ministry, LSTC recognizes that it’s more important than ever to have leaders for the church who can speak a message of hope, accompany people during difficult times, and proclaim God’s presence to a world in need of grace. LSTC has always attracted some of the brightest and best students from across the country and around the world thanks to its outstanding faculty and all the resources Chicago has to offer to those preparing for ministry.
LSTC was founded on the conviction that an urban, ecumenical, university-related setting was the best place to prepare excellent leaders for the church. It fulfills its mission by holding to that conviction even as it has expanded its ability to equip women and men for ministry by helping them meet the challenges of the multicultural, global, and interfaith world where the church must be vital today. |
