An alumnus of LSTC (1978 graduate of Christ Seminary - Seminex), Mark Van Scharrel served at small, medium, and large parishes in New Jersey and Illinois, in the AELC, LCA, and ELCA. A Member of the Association of Lutheran Development Executives, Mark is currently board chair of the Planned Giving Services of Arkansas/Oklahoma and Central States Synods (ELCA Foundation). He has worked for the LLM Fund-raising and Counseling Services of the former LCA, served as a synodical and congregational stewardship chairperson and stewardship workshop leader for the ELCA. Mark enjoys music, golf, gardening, swimming, and hiking.

 

As Vice President for advancement, he has responsibilities as LSTC’s major gift officer relating to the ELCA Regions and Synods located in Southern California, Hawaii, Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio and the Central/Southern Illinois Synod. Mike Klinefelter has been with LSTC since 1999. He is a 1995 graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in religious studies. He is married to Courtney Wilder, a Ph.D. candidate in systematic theology at the University of Chicago Divinity School. They live in the Chicago suburb of Homewood with their young children, Grace and Peter.

 

Mike's hobbies include playing soccer and baseball with the kids, homebrewing beer, and cheering the Chicago White Sox.

 

As A.V.P for advancement, Mike has responsibilities as LSTC’s major gift officer relating to the ELCA Regions and Synods located in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico as well as parts of Nevada and California (the Sierra Pacific, Region 2A Synod). Dale Nettnin joined the LSTC Advancement staff in 2005. A lifelong Lutheran, he and his wife of 35 years, Melody, have two grown daughters. He is a member of Holy Trinity Church in Hickory, North Carolina.

 

He currently serves as a volunteer as Vice President of Noth Carolina Lutheran Men in Mission, President of Family Care Center of Catawba Valley Inc. (a homeless shelter for dependent children and families), as Treasurer for Northwest North Carolina Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Jessica Nipp, a consecrated diaconal minister, graduated from LSTC in 2002. Her first call was as a missionary serving at ELCA Wittenberg Center in Germany. She currently lives in a housing co-op in Iowa City, exploring sustainable, low-impact living. Jessica still harbors a not-so-secret fantasy of getting a PhD in New Testament, but for the moment is thrilled to be actively supporting the mission of her alma mater.

 

As director for advancement, Jessica has responsibilities as LSTC’s major gift officer relating to the ELCA Regions and Synods located in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C. and West Virginia, and the Northern Illinois, Greater Milwaukee, South-Central Wisconsin, and LaCross Area of Wisconsin synods. Adam Wilhelm, grew up on the upper west side of Manhattan, adjacent to Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary. He graduated from St. Olaf College in 2003 with a double major in English and American Racial and Multi-cultural Studies.

 

He joined LSTC’s Office for Advancement in September 2003 as assistant director for advancement where he was responsible for all aspects of gift processing and acknowledgement, database management, prospect research, direct mail appeals, and the donor report. He currently resides in the Wicker Park neighborhood on Chicago’s north side.

 

As a director for advancement, he has responsibilities as LSTC’s major gift officer relating to the northern third of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod and all of East-Central Synod of Wisconsin, Northwest Synod of Wisconsin, and Northern Great Lakes Synod as well as synods located in Indiana, New York, New Jersey, and New England.
