CONGREGATIONS

Dear Friends:
The links in this section of the seminary’s web site are intended to be resources for pastors and lay leaders in congregations. While the seminary primarily serves congregations by preparing pastors and leaders for ministry, we also hope that these pages offer you and your congregation ideas and resources that are helpful in your ministry. If you have any questions or suggestions about these or other seminary resources, please do not hesitate to contact me.

With best wishes,

PROGRAM & SPEAKERS RESOURCES:

At the center of the seminary is a faculty recognized for its academic excellence coupled with a deep and personal commitment to the church. In addition to their primary teaching ministry of preparing seminarians to serve as pastors and leaders, the seminary’s faculty also responds to many invitations to serve as speakers and program leaders at congregations, conferences, and synod assemblies.

If you are interested in inviting a member of the seminary’s faculty to speak or to lead a program, you may either contact that faculty member directly or contact the seminary’s advancement office at bgibson@lstc.edu or 773-256-0710.

While the seminary does not have a schedule of fees for speakers or program leaders, it is customary to provide both an appropriate honorarium and expenses. The seminary’s student recruitment or advancement staff may also be available to speak or lead programs. To email them, click on the links below:

Read about
LSTC People in Print:

Having trouble deciding what to wear for Easter?  Consult the April issue of The Lutheran magazine, which includes an article by our own Peter Perry, “The right clothes: Jesus gives them to us. Will we wear them?”

Other LSTC alumni who contributed articles to this issue: Kathryn Kleinhans, a 2007 Outstanding Alumni/ae award recipient, writes on “Delivering the good news.”

Twila Schock joined associate editor Elizabeth Hunter on the article, “They were ‘cool’: In Argentina, a Luthern ministry creates community with a ‘loud voice’.”

David Rhoads is featured in the lead article in the March-April “Green” issue of the ELCA’s Seeds for the Parish, titled : This is not a fad.” (Much of the issue is devoted to “green” topics, with lots of ideas to put into practice in your congregations.)

The March issue of The Lutheran includes a review of Earth & Word, edited by David Rhoads (p. 41)

The New Year 2008 issue of In Trust magazine includes brief profiles of some of the Fund for Theological Education Ministry Fellows. Jon Bergstrom, and LSTC middler, is featured on page 24. (For the web version follow this link and scroll down through the entire feature).

Read an article by LSTC Intern Deborah Halter in The Lutheran online.
