ALUMS & FRIENDSWelcome to the Seminary’s web pages containing news and information
for our graduates and opportunities for giving. Excellent leaders, shaped by the vision of LSTC’s founders to relate the Gospel to the issues of the day, will have an immeasurable impact upon the church and the world in the 21st Century. Attaining this vision depends on your generosity. Your gifts, your prayers, your testimony are vital. In 2006, the cost of a seminary education was nearly $30,000 per student. Full-time students pay about $10,000 in tuition and fees. It is a daunting challenge: more than two-thirds of the cost of an LSTC education must come from sources other than tuition. In the last fifty years the funding of theological education has changed dramatically, from nearly 100% church or synod-based to significant reliance upon philanthropic gifts, endowment earnings, and tuition. Without gifts and endowment income, tuition (and subsequent borrowing) would be prohibitively high, creating particularly difficult financial situations for first-call pastors making modest incomes. If you have questions, need information, or have a particular interest is some aspect of LSTC, please do not hesitate to call me or another member of the advancement staff. Thank you for your ministry in the world and your continued support of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago.
