Catching a Star: Transcultural Reflections on a Church for All People is a collection of essays originally presented at a 1981 gathering of persons of color who shared their visions of how to make "an inclusive Lutheran church by 1990." It was presented in October 2004 at a multicultural "reconvening" of ELCA persons of color to discuss the current state of inclusiveness in the denomination. In the foreword to the volume, Perry pays tribute to Dr. Albert "Pete" Pero, whose vision produced the gathering in 1981.
