The music of Dr. Mark Bangert, the John H. Tietjen chair of pastoral ministry: worship and church music, and Larry Long, staff musician, both of the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), is currently being featured on WTTW 11 Chicago's "30 Good Minutes," a weekly religious television program.
On Saturday, August, 23, at the St. James Cathedral in Chicago, Dr. Bangert conducted the 30 Good Minutes Chorale, comprised of 13 professional musicians from throughout the Chicago area, while Mr. Long played the organ. After a morning of rehearsal, their performance of "Sovereign Lord, Creator, Righteous One," "How Can I Keep From Singing," "O Day of Peace," "I Want Jesus to Walk With Me," and many other pieces were videotaped. Each week this year, one of these pieces will be featured. A number have aired already.
"30 Good Minutes," now in its 48th television season, is broadcast on Sundays at 5 p.m. on WTTW 11 Chicago. Hosted by Lydia Talbot, the ecumenical religious program has featured such guests as the Rev. Mark Hanson, Presiding Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and Walt Wangrin, Jr., ordained minister in the ELCA, award-winning author, and host of the weekly radio program, "Lutheran Vespers."
