R. Scott Chalmers appointed Director of Admissions June 8, 2011

Dr. R. Scott Chalmers (1999, M.A.; 2004, Ph.D.) has been appointed Director of Admissions at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC), effective June 1, 2011. It is a one-year renewable appointment.

During the 2010-2011 school year, Dr. Chalmers served as Teaching and Learning Technologist and adjunct professor of Old Testament at LSTC. He has extensive experience teaching online and in the classroom. During the fall semester, he will continue to teach several online courses. Chalmers also worked in LSTC’s Admissions Office for five years while he was a student.

“I am pleased that Scott Chalmers will be serving as LSTC’s admissions director,” said Acting President Philip Hougen. “He will continue to build on the fine work that Pastor Joy McDonald Coltvet has done over the last five years and help LSTC connect with prospective students discerning a call to ministry and theological studies.”

During her tenure as director of admissions, Pastor Joy McDonald Coltvet created blogs exploring vocation and seminary life, worked collaboratively with admissions colleagues at other ELCA Covenant Cluster seminaries, and helped establish new scholarships for students. She and her family will be leaving Chicago because her spouse has accepted a job offer in another state.

Ms. Dorothy Dominiak will continue as director of financial aid and admissions at LSTC.
