The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Keith Hampton, will host six choirs and J & S Mime for its April 20 concert. Proceeds from "Grateful," the choir's 20th annual benefit concert, will go to the Grover Wright and the Rev. Carole A. Burns Scholarship Funds. The free concert begins at 4:00 p.m. in the Augustana Chapel at LSTC, 1100 East 55th Street in Chicago. A freewill offering designated for the scholarships will be gathered.
Harper High School Singing Cardinals, Shekinah Chapel Choir, Chicago Community Chorus, Praetorium Community "Signing" Mass Choir, the Evangelistic Praise House of Jesus Christ, and Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church Choir will perform, along with LSTC's Gospel Choir and J & S. Mime.
"We are grateful to have these excellent performers participating in the concert," said LSTC Gospel Choir founder and manager, Patricia Bartley. "It will be a Spirit-filled and inspiring afternoon."
The Grover Wright and Carole A. Burns Scholarships are awarded to LSTC students of color or whose first language is other than English. Concert sponsorships and additional donations for the scholarships are welcome at any time.
